Brian Hoban Announced as Chief Commercial Banking Officer

KANSAS CITY, MO – Country Club Bank President Joe Close has announced the promotion of Brian Hoban to Chief Commercial Banking Officer, a new position to oversee strategic planning and growth of commercial banking.

“Country Club Bank’s commercial banking division continues to experience strong, ongoing growth. Adding this position strategically leverages our abilities as we continue to serve our clients with a well-rounded suite of products and services that allows them to grow their businesses,” said Close. “I’m looking forward to working with Brian and utilizing his vast experience in this area to expand the depth of both the industries we serve and the offerings Country Club Bank provides.”

“Strategic planning is at the core of managing our continued growth. That requires a targeted approach focused on building commercial banking in a way that promotes the bank’s goals and advocates for individuals and businesses. We want highly efficient processes and systems for our clients to best run their businesses and achieve their financial goals. It's a very consultative approach. I see myself as an advocate for commercial banking and assisting with the mentoring of young lenders who can work in a very personalized manner to help our clients grow their businesses,” Hoban said.

Hoban joined Country Club Bank in August 2020 as Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending. He’s a well-known Kansas City area market leader with more than 30 years of banking experience, primarily in commercial lending, sales and relationship management. A Kansas City native, Hoban earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rockhurst University and has been involved in numerous local charitable and civic activities, including serving as the current board president of the Supporting Kids Foundation.

“I was drawn to Country Club Bank because of its reputation for integrity and dedication to hard work and the community. Country Club Bank’s culture aligns with my adherence to the ‘New Golden Rule’—to treat others as they would like to be treated,” Hoban said.

The new position is yet another move Country Club Bank has taken over the last two years to accommodate growth throughout the company and position its leadership team to maintain and grow the legacy of Country Club Bank well into the future. Other recent moves included naming Ashly Hanson as Chief Administrative Officer in May 2020, third-generation PJ Thompson as VP, Finance & Corporate Administration in January 2020, Mark Fortino as Chief Operating Officer in June 2019, Close as President in May 2019 and Suzy Hall as President and Chief Operating Officer at Country Club Trust Company in April 2019.

“We continue to build a top-notch leadership team that supports our year-over-year growth, our clients’ needs, and our associates who are dedicated to serving the Kansas City community. Anyone who has worked with Brian knows he embodies the experience, the passion and the interpersonal relationship-building skills necessary for achieving those goals,” said Country Club Bank Chairman and CEO Paul Thompson.
